rufous.jpg (78846 bytes) Dan True, in Hummingbirds of North America, reckons that Rufous Hummingbirds have one of the best aerial designs among hummers, which enables them to be so fearless and agressive.  The one shown here was a holy terror.  At Grey Feathers Lodge in New Mexico, he claimed not one but two sugar-water feeders as his territory.  When I placed a pot of flowers nearby for photography, he claimed that too.
