Broad-tailed Hummingbirds breed in the Rocky Mountains.  In late summer they feed on the nectar of flowers like this Penstemon barbatas as they migrate through the southern Rockies to Mexico.  They look a lot like the Ruby-Throated Hummingbird, but their closest relatives are two other western species, Rufous Hummingbird and Allen's Hummingbird.
