CarolinaChickadee-2012.jpg (157968 bytes)

Here in Oklahoma, Carolina Chickadees begin to nest in late February.  Fledglings often leave the nest by the end of April.   Perhaps early nesting accounts for the fact that chickadees had a successful breeding season in 2011, despite the summer's brutally high temperatures and drought.
It's now winter 2012, and I'm seeing as many as 4 chickadees at the feeder.
