Named for its least conspicuous feature (!), the Red-bellied Woodpecker is a most likable bird.   Not only is it big and colorful, its loud chirrups brighten a winter day.   Regardless of what you provide, the Red-bellied is interested in it.  It comes to my bird feeder and drinks at my birdbath.  When I put out corn for the deer, this woodpecker dropped by to grab a kernal or two.
